Android Notification Icons

So, you’ve been using your Republic phone running Android and by now, you’ve probably started getting little notifications up in the top menu bar.

These symbols that the arrows are pointing to.
See those symbols at the top? Those are Android Material Icons.

But what do they all mean?!?! We can help. Check out the handy charts below to see a HUGE list of Android notification icons for Lollipop (click on each image to see a larger version). They’ll help you know the difference between when you missed a call and when you have a new voicemail. Or, when a friend posts a comment on your Facebook wall vs. when you have a new app download. Take a look:

Now, you’re probably asking yourself: “How do I get all these notifications to stop?!”  It’s true, Android notifications can be really helpful, but if you’re like me, you’ve got dozens of apps and are super popular (joke – nobody calls me. I’m so lonely…) and you might not necessarily want your phone blowing up every other minute with a new notification. Be on the lookout for part II of our Android notification blog, where we’ll show you how to set specific apps to notify you only when you want them to. We’ll also explore which notification icons are different for Android KitKat. Meanwhile, for tips on how to interact with the notifications you do receive now, be sure to jump over to our Community for in-depth instructions. Enjoy!
